Engagement

Throwback: At The Lake House by Zack Wussow

I met Jess and Matt at the site of their future wedding ceremony - the family lake house, tucked in a scenic corner of eastern Connecticut.

Seriously, I was excited when they texted me that they'd be a few minutes late, as it gave me an excuse to take the long way round and take in the fall foliage.

We also stopped by a neighbor's house, for a different view of the lake.

Then we drove down the road a ways to Buell's Orchard, who kindly let us wander around and take a few photos on the property.

And, of course, we had to grab a pumpkin picture, because it was late October.

Really a perfect day to be out in the New England country!

Throwback: Picture Perfect by Zack Wussow

I knew after I did Alli and Dan's engagement photos at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens that they were going to be an amazing couple to work with. Laid back, head over heels, and so fun.

The wedding day started at Alli's mom's house, where the girls (a tight knit group I got to work with again in Chicago) were joking around while Mean Girls played in the background.

Alli got dressed at the venue, St. Clement's Castle, while Dan put on the finishing touches at his parents' house.

The ceremony was held outdoors, at a beautiful spot overlooking the river. It was short but deeply personal and touching.

We did some quick posed photos - St. Clements has an amazing variety of beautiful spots for pictures, but this ivy-covored walkway is probably my favorite.

The reception was held in the nearby ballroom, a beautiful space, and it was a lovely evening with lots of dancing and wonderful speeches.

Newport Engagement by Zack Wussow

I met Amanda and James at the Newport Cliff Walk for their engagement photos. It’s a favorite spot of theirs that they’ve visited often.

In a bit of perfect luck, the very first spot I had them pose for a photo was the exact spot he proposed to her!

The day was chilly but otherwise beautiful, and the Cliff Walk is full of great spots for pictures.

Just before sunset, we made our way over to Beavertail State Park. It’s a perfect spot for evening photos, with the rocky coastline looking west into the sunset.

So perfect, in fact, that almost everyone there had a photographer with them, whether they were doing engagements or family photos.

The day rounded out with a stunning sunset. Beautiful!

Can’t wait to photograph Amanda and James’s wedding next year. It’ll be great!

Lovely Lake by Zack Wussow

For Danielle and Corrie's engagement, we decided to meet at Douglas State Forest in Douglas, MA as a convenient midway point. I arrived early to scope things out, and was very relieved to find it's a beautiful park with lots of great spots for photos. And despite it being the first really warm Saturday in spring it wasn't too crowded, either.

The water made for a beautiful backdrop and even allowed for some "studio-ish" images.

Without much walking we got some nice trail shots.

Then, Danielle and Corrie gamely clambered up one of the many big boulders along the lake-shore. It was perfect!

One more quick stop to take advantage of some May flowers...

...and we were done. I headed home to start editing, and Danielle and Corrie set off for a hike.

Can't wait for the wedding this summer!

A Family Engagement by Zack Wussow

(This is a bit of a throwback post, to bring a little summer brightness into our winter!)

I met Heather, Brian, and their son at Wickham Park for an engagement and family photo session. We were lucky to have a beautiful evening and a wonderful selection of flowers in bloom.

We moved around the park's various gardens, with quick breaks to look for frogs.

A great afternoon, and fun to introduce another client to the hidden gem that is Wickham Park.

Congratulations on your engagement, Heather and Brian!
